The Total Player 2017 Voting continues today with Petar Porobić, current president of the World Water polo Coaches Association (WWPCA). The Montenegrian currently also acts as the chief of staff for all Chinese water polo selections.

He is one of Europe’s finest coaches, who lead the national team of former Serbia & Montenegro to the world title back in 2005. After Montenegro’s declaration of independence, Petar Porobić became it’s first head coach. He then continued to win the European gold in Malaga 2008.

Coach Porobić’s Total 5 of 2017

Andrija Prlainovic

1st – Andrija Prlainović

Serbian National Player | Club: Szolnoki Vízilabda SC | Position: Driver

“An outstanding player – With his game, he improves every club, every selection, and every teammate he plays with. Andrija contributed a big part to Szolnok’s Champions League success last season.”

Sandro Sukno

2nd – Sandro Sukno

Croatia Team Captain | Club: Pro Recco | Position: Driver

“A true water polo genius, who led Croatia to the world title with his quality and his gameplay. He takes up a key role for every club he plays in.”

Luka Loncar

3rd – Luka Lončar

Croatian National Player | Club: Jug Dubrovnik | Position: Center Forward

“Lončar has shown significant improvement. While many center forwards have not been as convincing as we expected, he manages to show a different picture.”

Marton Vamos

4th – Márton Vámos

Hungarian National Player | Club: 2016/17 Szolnoki Vízilabda SC, 2017 Ferencvaros | Position: Driver

“The Hungarian lefty with a devastating shot. A goal getter who is ready to take responsibility in the most difficult moments.”

Viktor Nagy

5th – Viktor Nagy

Hungarian National Player | Club: Szolnoki Vízilabda SC | Position: Goalkeeper

“The Hungarian goalie who earned his place on this list with his performances throughout the year. He is one of Hungary’s key players in the national team.”

Honorable Mentions

I’d like to name another player who deserves to be pointed out. Xavi Garcia, who significantly contributed to the Croatian national team and to his club Jug Dubrovnik. His quality helped especially during defense, while scoring very important goals on the attack.
