The Germans didn’t give up. They will finish their national league. The 2019/20 national championship has been continued after a 20-week break, caused by the pandemic.
As we already reported, the league will be completed by a “short “competition formula. Six teams take part.
This weekend, the quarterfinal tournament (qualifications for the semifinals) was played in Potsdam. The top two teams advanced to the semifinals of the playoffs.
White Sharks from Hannover took the 1st place in the quarterfinal group. Along with White Sharks, home team OSC Potsdam also qualified for the semifinals.
Spandau 04 and Waspo Hannover 98, the best two German clubs, are directly qualified for the semifinals. Before the suspension of the league, Spandau and Waspo were in the first two places of the table. Before the semifinals, the two teams will face off in the match for the “pole position”. After that game, which will be played on Tuesday, the semifinals’ pairings will be known.

The first two rounds were played on Saturday. All of the games were very exciting. The derby between OSC Potsdam and Waspo Hannover ended with no winner– 11:11.
On Saturday evening, after the first two rounds, White Sharks had 3 points. ASC Duisburg and Ludwigsburg had two points each, while OSC Potsdam was on the bottom of the table, with one point. Everything was open, and all four teams were still in the hunt for the first two places.
Today’s program was opened by an encounter between Ludwigsburg and White Sharks. Ludwigsburg opened the match well and earned a 4:2 lead in the middle of the second quarter. Still, the Hannover based side was able to turn around the deficit to a 7:6 advantage before the final eight minutes. White Sharks controlled everything in the fourth quarter; and recorded a 10:7 victory to secure 1st place.
In the last match of the tournament, OSC Potsdam – ASC Duisburg, OSC was always ahead. The hosts built a 5-goal lead in the third period (9:4), and there was no way back for ASC.
