Last year in Barcelona, Bea Ortiz was crowned as the top scorer of the European Championships. She shares her thoughts with us in our World Championships Warm Up Series.
Can you tell us a few words about the teams you will face in your group C?
We are opening the World Championship against a very strong Greek team. This is a crucial game to decide a direct quarterfinal spot. Cuba and Kazakhstan are two teams we don’t really know but we’ll give 100% in every game.
Does Spain have any special preparations to gain an advantage at the World Championships?
We are putting a lot of focus on defensive plays because we’ll try to block as many shots as possible.
In your own opinion, what is the best way to play against the USA?
A very aggressive defensive game and a controlled offensive play during the whole match can make us very competitive in the potential match against team USA.
Which team could be a big positive surprise at these World Championships?
We can be this team! Even though we didn’t qualify for the World League Superfinal and lost some important games, we have a lot to show at the World Championships in Gwangju.
