Unlike their women’s team, the United States’ men are currently not the main contender for the gold medal, but with players like Cupido, Hooper and Bowen they are a team to watch during this World Championships in Gwangju. Alex Bowen sheared some of his expectations leading up to the tournament with us.
You have a very young but strong team – what can we expect from Team USA at this World Championship? What is your goal?
Thank you, I think we can surprise some people. Our goal is always to get better every game and make a good run.
New rules – Did you manage to adapt? Do you think you can benefit from the sped up gameplay?
I think some of the new rules are great, the new live time substitution rule and inside water rules, I think they will improve the game. Personally, I will benefit from the new rules and faster gameplay. I think it favors my type of game.
Who is the No.1 favorite for the gold in your opinion?
There are a lot of strong teams on this World Championships, but I think we can surprise a lot of people this summer!
