Waspo 98 Hannover, Spandau 04, ASC Duisburg, and OSC Potsdam will play in the semifinals of the German League playoffs.
The quarterfinal series (best of three) ended this weekend. Waspo 98 Hannover, which won 1st place in the regular season, didn’t play in this stage. Only seven clubs finished the regular season, as Ludwigsburg withdrew from the league in the middle of the season. Therefore, Waspo directly qualified for the semifinals.
Spandau 04 and ASC Duisburg, the 2nd- and 3rd-placed teams in the regular season, respectively, advanced to the semifinal by beating their rivals convincingly Spandau opened the playoffs with an away 16:9 victory over Duisburger 98. The Berliners confirmed their spot in the Top 4 by defeating Duisburger 22:5 at home this weekend. Ivan Vukojevic scored five goals. Matej Caraj and Sebastian Andruskiewicz added four each.
ASC Duisburg didn’t have big problems either. Although ASC’s defense was far from perfect in the first match against Neukolln, it won convincingly, 29:13. In the second match ASC recorded a 23:8 win with five goals from Sascha Seifert.
White Sharks Hannover and OSC Potsdam faced off in three closely contested matches. The White Sharks capitalized on their home-field advantage, winning the first match 10:9. However, OSC Potsdam equalized the series with a 15-12 victory in the second match. The decisive third match took place today in Potsdam, where OSC emerged victorious with a score of 8:6 after a hard-fought battle.
