Israel is one of Europe’s most rapidly expanding water polo nations. The women’s team, coached by the Greek Dimitrios Mavrotas, is making waves in the international water polo community.
Israel’s best-ever finish at a European Championship was sixth place, achieved at this year’s tournament in Split.
With their outstanding performance in Split under the direction of Mavrotas, they were able, for the first time in their history, to secure a spot for the World Championships in Fukuoka next year.

A great centre forward, very good scorer and the key player for the gold medal in the last European in Split.
2. Rita Keszthelyi (HUN)
Hungary National Team Player/Club: Mataro/ Position: Driver
Rita Keszthelyi: Great scorer and MVP for the Hungary national team in the last world championship, plus great leader for her club in the last final four.
3. Maddie Musselman (USA)
United States National Team Player/Club: UCLA/ Position: Wing
The best all around player at the last World Championships in Budapest.
4. Eleni Xenaki (GRE)
Gree National Team Player/Club: Olympiacos/ Position: Centre-forward
She had a great season with both her national team and Olympiacos.
